Popular Twitch streamer Byron ‘Reckful’ Bernstein has sadly died earlier today after committing suicide. He was 31. Reckful was one of the first prominent streamers and is one of the top players to ever play World Of Warcraft. Recently, he had been working on his own video game called Everland, which is designed with the hope “to help people find friendship and a sense of community.” The game is planned to release sometime in 2020; it is unclear whether the development will continue.
The news was confirmed by Byron’s girlfriend after rumors circulating around social media. She sent out a tweet saying: “Yes, it’s him. He’s gone.”
After the tragic news was confirmed, tributes were given across the whole gaming community.
Later on, Byron’s girlfriend posted a very touching story about him which she said was the reason she fell in love with him:
I knew Byron was kind when we first met. I was struggling w/my dad passing away & made a post. He saw it & just showed up at my house after only being there once. He brought his fave movie Almost Famous over & hung out with me all night. I fell in love in that moment. RIP Byron❤
Other streamers and gaming companies posted their own tributes to Reckful:
