Turtle Beach Reveals a New Flight Sim Controller

Updated:

With Microsoft Flight Simulator coming to Xbox in late July, a new player has entered the market for flight sim controllers. Turtle Beach, a company famous for its audio devices, announced its entrance into this space of gaming peripherals with its VelocityOne flight sim controller at E3.

This new flight control system comes in with a hefty $350 price tag but makes up for it with a whole range of promising features, being the most advanced product in its field. It boasts of features such as a throttle quadrant with dedicated trim wheel and a realistic yoke with integrated rudder controls.

According to Turtle Beach, it will be equipped with two POV & two HAT switches along with 18 additional buttons which can be remapped to the user’s liking. It also comes with integrated rudder controls.

On the firmware side, it will have full integration with Microsoft Flight Simulator and has various displays for in-game status updates (some of which Turtle Beach plan to release post launch as a firmware update), allowing its users to have a whole new level of immersion. This includes a display on the yoke itself, showing the flight time, time at origin, and more. Behind the yoke is a panel with multiple status indicators and ambient lighting.

All things considered, The VelocityOne Flight Universal Control System looks like a very lucrative package given the immersion it provides but whether the $350 price tag is justified or not can only be known once it is launched and put into the hands of reviewers where other factors like build quality and actual performance will be tested.
