Twitch, the ever-dominant streaming service online, is now launching a Twitch Sports category in an effort to capitalise further on their growing sports-related content.
With the world in lockdown, the streaming industry has continued to grow. Now, more than ever, Twitch is becoming a key place to get your sports fix! Amazon has been using Prime to push for sports coverage for a couple years now, and it’s now relaunching the Twitch branch of this to help accommodate this growth. Twitch has already been streaming some Premier League games for free in the last couple of weeks and has secured some UEFA Champions League matches. Last year, Twitch also signed a deal to become the official streaming partner for USA Basketball.
Twitch is already being used by sports-people to stream, just like everyone else. Several WWE Superstars already use Twitch, alongside Formula One Drivers and Basketball players. This new category will undoubtedly help them in finding a clearer space to promote their streams. Fans will also benefit, as it will be a lot easier to find this kind of content. Even without any massive deals, it’s kind of a win-win!
Twitch Sports Category Will Also Include Streams From Several Football Clubs
Reportedly, Arsenal and Real Madrid are two of the clubs looking to have streams included on Twitch’s new category. Supposedly, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain will be following suit. The category will also accommodate all the existing sports content that’s available on the platform now. This includes the NBA, NHL, RFL, UFC, and NWSL.
The relaunch is happening now with a showcase that will aim to highlight the importance of the category. MLS Star Jimmy Conrad is appearing alongside content from the NBA and Arsenal. Check that out here: https://www.twitch.tv/twitchsports
