Many have been speculating that TwitchCon Amsterdam would be cancelled due to COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Earlier today, Twitch put out a statement on Twitter announcing that TwitchCon EU would be cancelled this year.
In this statement by Twitch, they mention that they have been monitoring Coronavirus concerns and have acknowledged the potential health risks to the Twitch community and have made the incredibly difficult decision to cancel TwitchCon Amsterdam. Anyone who has purchased a ticket to the event will be refunded the full amount. Cancellations will be issued no later than March 20th, although it may take longer for the refund to processed to your chosen payment method. For anyone who booked a hotel through Twitch’s hotel block, cancellations can be done free of charge.
Please keep in that mind Twitch is not held responsible for the refunds of any travel and accommodation. However, many airlines are updating cancellation and refund policies due to concerns around Coronavirus. Reach out directly to the airline to request a refund.
COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is likely to cause many gaming events to be cancelled over the next few months as it continues to spread, so be cautions when booking.
