VALORANT Omen Guide: Abilities
Shrouded Step (C)
Description: Equip to enable Omen’s shadow walk ability, aka short-distance teleport. Omen can move to a different area in his view in a short range. Enemies will hear Omen teleporting from his original location. Cost: 100
A useful ability when an enemy was able to peek you and figure out your location. Simply use Shrouded Step to move to the other side and possibly get the kill once the enemy peeks again.
Ability can also be used to teleport to higher vantage points.
Description: Omen sends out a shadow projectile, minimizing players’ vision who the projectile touches to short-range. Paranoia can go through walls and obstacles. Cost: 400
Great for turning corners and checking spots usually camped by players.
Beware that you might blind your own teammates.
Dark Cover (E)
Description: Omen releases a dark cloud that covers an area blocking vision of the spot. When equipped, a shadow-version of the map is shown allowing Omen to choose an area to fire the Dark Cover. Holding right-click moves target farther through the map, while holding the ability moves it closer. Cost: Free
Many has used this as a cover prior to teleporting to, hiding Omen from vision.
Dark Cover is also useful to block out potential sniper angles.
Ability can also be used as a distraction as players will usually check the cover just to be sure Omen is not there.
From the Shadows
Description: Omen equips a tactical map and teleports to a specific location anywhere in the map. Once Omen teleports, he has a few seconds to rotate 360 degrees and check his surroundings in the shadow-form. He can choose to continue the teleport or cancel it, returning to his original location. Cost: 7 Ultimate Points
There is also a sound cue when Omen teleports which is especially louder when near it.
To make your teleport worth the use, make sure to choose a fairly safe position despite infiltrating the enemy team’s area for easy flank opportunities.
Enemies can fire at Omen while his teleport is processing to cancel it.
VALORANT Omen Guide: In Game and Team Composition
Omen would be somewhat of an ‘all-rounder’, With his ability to smoke areas, blind enemies, and teleport, Omen can be very effective on both Attacker and Defender Side. Omen works best as a team player, working sides that the Duelists might not. An ideal choice for sneaking and flanking the enemy team.
Placing Dark Cover a little bit higher on the area can allow Omen a little one-way vision opportunity.
Definitely be aware of where you used your ultimate last as you might want to change it after. The enemy team will likely check your previous teleport location.
Omen is more effective when appearing in different areas throughout the game, surprising the enemy every time.
From the Shadows can be used as a fake. Teleporting right next to your original location and causing the enemy to move around and check areas. Possibly exposing their location or leaving an area your team would like to push.
Might be a good idea to set yourself in custom matches to find your Omen spots to teleport to. Let’s see what epic Omen moves you’ll be able to pull out!
