Recently, Valorant celebrated its first anniversary by unveiling a brand new cinematic alongside news of an upcoming mobile version. In addition to that, they also offered players a chance to net themselves a special Valorant Duality player card for a limited time.
It was all supposed to be so simple. All players needed to was head over to a redemption website, enter the code and enjoy their reward. However, the site couldn’t handle the player base’s desire for free stuff and promptly keeled over.
By way of apology for persistently irritating players over the last few days, Riot has decided to grant everyone their own Valorant Duality player card. According to a recent tweet from the game’s official account, the card will automatically appear in the player’s inventory soon. It’s a great goodwill gesture from Riot that will certainly do their reputation no harm.
Despite this slight misfire, it’s been an otherwise stellar first year for Riot’s tactical shooter. Since launching last June, the game has amassed a healthy player base, with over 14 million players jumping in to play a few rounds on a daily basis. Those are impressive numbers for such a young title. Though, of course, Riot is hardly a small company in the gaming realm.
The impressive growth is also partly thanks to a constant influx of content keeping the game interesting. A new game mode called Replication got teased last month, and recently they also revealed that a mobile version of the game is also in the works. It wasn’t a particularly surprising announcement, given the surging popularity that League of Legends: Wild Rift is experiencing at the moment.
If you’re yet to give Valorant a try, it’s available to download for free over on the game’s official website. Meanwhile, if you missed the latest cinematic, be sure to check that out over on YouTube.
