VALORANT Ranked Mode Coming Next Week

The VALORANT ranked mode, also known as Rated, will be coming sometime next week. Valorant’s Game Director, Joe Ziegler, is finally giving players what they want. In a tweet, Ziegler let us know that we can take the grind to a higher level next week.

Since the competitive mode wasn’t rolled out along with the games initial release, players only had the option of Unrated and Spike Rush. While these two modes are fine, they’re too static. This is why some organizations have taken to competing in their own tournaments.

There is no feeling of progression or ranking up in Unrated. But now Riot is planning on releasing the mode in full force after a week of tweaking. This is definitely a good thing because the ranked system in VALORANT isn’t without its own issues. During the beta it seemed there was no concrete idea of progress. With an arbitrary message of “Rating Greatly/Slightly Increased/Decreased” you can’t really gauge how close you are to the next tier. But there is one adjustment confirmed. The top rank of VALORANT will be changed.

Ranked Unranked

If the game Devs plan on adjusting the ranked system to have more clarity on the ranked points gained in each match that would be a big help. But if you are just itching to get into the ranked play, there’s no need to be impatient. The Unrated matches that you play will most affect in your rank when the Rated playlist comes out. This is a double edged sword. If you want to really give it your all in Unrated it will put you in a higher spot at the beginning of the Season. But if you enjoy goofing off in games with strange strats, you might drop your hidden MMR, and be a lower rank.

VALORANT’s ranked playlist will be released next week, so until then, get your practice in and get ready to rank up!
