The highly anticipated ranked playlist for the recently released Valorant was expected to drop today. Unfortunately, players will have to wait a little longer before they can jump into a dedicated competitive Valorant playlist.

What caused the delay?
A recent patch (1.02) was released, and this has caused several bugs and issues in the game. The official Valorant twitter had this announcement overnight:
“We found another bug that puts competitive at risk, so we’re holding off turning on ranked for a while longer. Sorry for the delay, we’re working as fast as possible to get a fix and, when we get one, we’ll turn ranked on. Predicting a day or two, but nothing confirmed yet.”
One of the bugs that was found and hotfixed was the ability for playing beings to use ghost mode, also known as no clip. This is a cheat in custom games. To combat the bug, Riot simply disabled all cheats.
What we can take away from this
Having a delay for a highly anticipated playlist or game mode is never ideal. Some fans will be incredibly unhappy with the delays and understandably so. However, there are some positives to take away from the delay.
Their main reason for pushing the ranked mode back was because it was essentially going to risk ruining the competitive integrity of the game. If Riot Games are going to remain this vigilant and strict when it comes to competitive Valorant updates and gameplay, it bodes well for those playing and competing on the title.
When will Valorant ranked be available?
Going from their official statement, it should only be a couple of days until everything is fixed and the playlist can be officially rolled out to the community. For those interested, the biggest issues that pushed back to Valorant Ranked playlist are:
- Stability and tracking issues due to the patch going live across different regions
- One bug meant players would occasionally spawn in the opponent’s spawn point. This is obviously a major flaw for gameplay as a whole.
Like Riot posted on their official channels, hopefully it will only be a couple of days before everything is back to normal. However, with game development and coding, you can never quite be certain. Stay tuned for updates on the dedicated Valorant section of the website.
