The teams that are currently placed 1st – 5th in the RMR standings will be invited directly to the event; the rest of the teams will need to play through a qualifier. These five teams are as follows:

  1. Hard Legion – 1,640 points
  2. Spirit – 1,600 points
  3. Virtus.pro – 1,520 points
  4. Winstrike – 1,500 points
  5. Natus Vincere – 1,430 points

There will be an open qualifier stage available for all teams to enter, with three spots available. These teams will then join the teams currently placed 6th-10th in the RMR standings to make up the closed qualifier stage. Teams will battle it out in the closed qualifier for three spots, joining the five already invited teams. These stages will take place before the main event, starting on June 8th.

These eight teams will then progress through a GSL group stage, leading into a double-elimination bracket. All matches during the main event will be BO3s.

These RMR events become increasingly more important for teams looking to secure their spot at the Rio Major, as the events closer to the Rio Major are weighted more heavily.

WePlay Clutch Island - Invitation distribution

For teams like Natus Vincere and Virtus.pro, anything less than a legend spot should be a disappointing result, considering the competition. This means that they need to make winning the WePlay! Clutch Island a priority, in order to secure their spots.
