Xbox Accidentally Leaks New Star Wars Game

With IGN’s Summer Of Gaming in full swing, we are being treated to trailer after trailer and new announcements. It is understandable that sometimes things go live early and accidentally. Today, Microsoft leaked a brand new Star Wars game called Star Wars Squadrons. The image was posted on Resetera but has been removed from Xbox.com if you look now. According to sources, the pre-order link didn’t go anywhere, indicating it wasn’t ready to go live, but this also confirms it won’t be a free to play game.

There is currently little known about the game, but judging by the name and image, it seems like it will be a space fighter game, much like the Rogue Squadron series from the late 90’s and early 2000’s. It doesn’t appear to be named as Rogue Squadron 4, but with so much time having passed since the last entry, it makes sense to start fresh much like they did with the Battlefront series. The space combat aspect of Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017) is often regarded as a highlight of the game and some of the best flight mechanics in gaming.

According to sources, Star Wars: Squadrons will be a aerial/space combat game, similar to the Rogue Squadron series. It will feature a single-player campaign but will have a heavy focus on online battles. The game will be developed by EA’s Motive Studio, who did work on Star Wars Battlefront 2 as well as assisting Bioware with Anthem.
