Thinking of buying an Xbox Series X but not at launch? The good news is you won’t have to rebuy some games as Microsoft introduces the Smart Delivery option for future Xbox Series X owners. Certain titles that are purchased on Xbox One will allow players to upgrade to the Xbox Series X version at a later date.

Halo Infinite will launch on the Xbox Series X and also release on Xbox One, giving gamers a bit of room to work with by being able to still play it Day 1 without forking out the price of a new system. Other games include the next entry in the Dirt series, which will run at 120fps on Xbox Series X.

EA are adding their own kind of version of Smart Delivery to Madden 21. Players who purchase on Xbox One before 31st December 2020 will be able to upgrade to the Xbox Series X version before 31st March 2021. Madden 21 isn’t part of the Smart Delivery program; this is just something EA is doing. Games that are part of the Xbox Smart Delivery program will always be upgradeable from the Xbox One to Xbox Series X.

Below is a list of all Smart Delivery confirmed games so far;

  • Call of the Sea
  • Chorus
  • Dirt 5
  • Scarlet Nexus
  • The Ascent
  • The Second Extinction
  • Rainbow Six Siege
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Gears 5
  • Halo: Infinite
  • Madden 21
  • Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2
  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon
