After admitting that Yuumi “hasn’t been fair to play against”, Yuumi changes are coming to League of Legends from Riot Games. This was discussed in an Ask Riot several days ago.
Everyone likes League of Legends. Everyone likes cats. So you’d think everyone would like League of Legends’ magical cat? That’s where you’re wrong. In October last year, we discussed ‘the Yuumi problem’ and it seems like it’s still a hotly-debated topic to this day. Now, Riot themselves have dived into the issues surrounding Yuumi and promises that change is on the way.
Yuumi Changes Need To “Ensure She Does Have Adequate Avenues For Counterplay”
Despite calls for Riot to delete Yuumi from League, the developer has instead said that they know there are issues.
“It’s safe to say that no, we don’t think Yuumi has been in a state that’s balanced or that she’s been in a good place in regards to game health.”
Riot has claimed that Yuumi is quite tough to master, despite her being fairly easy for new players to pick up. However, this seems to come much more down to game knowledge and management over any hard skill. She’s fairly slow and ‘squishy’ despite her supposed over-poweredness. They also believe that she fills a unique role in the expansive League of Legends roster, both thematically and in a playstyle capacity.
So, if you’re annoyed at Yuumi still… Fear not, change and (hopefully) balance, is coming.
Riot’s official blogpost addressing this, and more, is full of wonderful graphs and insightful responses to fan questions. Read it all here.
